Plantagenet Society Shows: Archery
The powerful English longbow was the scourge of the French during the Hundred Years' War. Providing devastating victories to the English in battles such as Crecy (1346) and Azincourt (1415), the longbow was an important part of the medieval military world.
Plantagenet Society can provide various archery demonstrations:
- • Ladies' hunting archery demonstrations feature beautifully-dressed ladies on a hunt, taking aim at pheasant targets, garlands, and a bell on a ribbon.
- • Military archery demonstrations feature men-at-arms and include information about the strategic uses of the longbow during the Hundred Years' War and dramatic demonstrations of the famous volleys or "rains" of arrows.
In addition to the archery demonstrations, Plantagenet Society can provide a safe opportunity for audience members of all ages to try their own hands at archery with personalised one-to-one instruction.
